Mechanism & Pharmacokinetics ▼
Mechanism: Tolperisone acts centrally by stabilizing neuronal membranes and inhibiting monosynaptic and polysynaptic reflex transmission in the spinal cord. It reduces muscle tone without significant sedation.
Pharmacokinetics: Rapid oral absorption. Extensive first-pass metabolism. Peak plasma levels within 1 hour. Metabolized in liver and kidneys. Excreted mainly in urine.
