Mechanism: Selectively blocks angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release, thereby lowering blood pressure.
Pharmacokinetics: Prodrug converted to active olmesartan; peak plasma levels in 1–2 hours; bioavailability ~26%; eliminated via feces and urine; half-life ~13 hours.
