Mechanism & Pharmacokinetics ▼
Mechanism: Tioconazole inhibits fungal lanosterol 14α-demethylase, an enzyme involved in ergosterol synthesis. This disrupts fungal cell membrane formation, leading to cell death.
Pharmacokinetics: Minimal systemic absorption when used topically or intravaginally. Metabolism and excretion not clinically significant due to local administration.
