Mechanism & Pharmacokinetics ▼
Mechanism: Trimebutine is a spasmolytic agent that modulates gastrointestinal motility via peripheral opioid receptors (μ, κ, δ) and has a mild effect on the enteric nervous system. It normalizes both hyper- and hypo-motility.
Pharmacokinetics: Rapidly absorbed orally. Undergoes hepatic metabolism. Elimination half-life is approximately 2 hours. Excreted mainly via urine.
