Mechanism & Pharmacokinetics ▼
Mechanism: Binds to 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis and preventing bacterial growth (bacteriostatic).
Pharmacokinetics: Well absorbed orally; peak plasma concentration in 2 hours; highly protein bound; metabolized in liver; excreted via bile and urine; half-life ~12 hours.
