Mechanism & Pharmacokinetics ▼
Mechanism: Terazosin selectively blocks postsynaptic alpha-1 adrenergic receptors in vascular smooth muscle and prostate/bladder neck. This leads to vasodilation (lowering blood pressure) and relaxation of bladder outlet (improving urine flow in BPH).
Pharmacokinetics: Well absorbed orally with bioavailability of ~90%. Metabolized in the liver. Half-life: 9–12 hours. Excreted via urine and feces.
