Mechanism: Nucleotide analog that inhibits HBV DNA polymerase, causing chain termination during viral DNA replication.
Pharmacokinetics: Rapid oral absorption; converted to active adefovir in the liver. Mainly excreted unchanged via kidneys. Half-life ~7.5 hours.
