Schizophrenia: Management of acute and chronic schizophrenia in adults and adolescents (13–17 years).
Bipolar Disorder: Treatment of acute manic or mixed episodes in adults and children (10–17 years).
Autistic Disorder: Treatment of irritability, aggression, and temper tantrums in children and adolescents (5–17 years).
Mechanism & Pharmacokinetics ▼
Mechanism: Antagonizes dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors; modulates neurotransmission in the CNS to reduce psychotic symptoms.
Pharmacokinetics: Oral bioavailability ~70%; peak plasma 1–2 hours; metabolized via CYP2D6 to active metabolite 9-hydroxyrisperidone; half-life 3–20 hours; excreted renally.
